A few things can cause this even with a fresh battery.

First, check how the battery was installed. A CR2032 that's slightly off-center or pressing against a bent contact clip will give you exactly this problem, an intermittent key-not-detected warning that seems random. Open the fob, reseat the battery, and check that the metal clips are flat against the cell.

If that's not it, the fob itself may need attention. The internal circuit board on these fobs can develop issues over time, especially on a used car where the key history is unknown. A fob that's been dropped hard or gotten wet can look fine externally but behave unpredictably.

It's also worth ruling out the vehicle side. If a second working fob shows the same warning, the issue is more likely with the antenna or the immobilizer system than the fob. That's a different diagnosis. Start with the key first, then go from there.
