I was parked near the water in Cardiff-by-the-Sea on a Thursday afternoon, finishing up another job, when a call came in. Guy said he kept his F-150 at a marina slip in Encinitas and he was about to head out for the day. Fob had been getting flaky for weeks. Unlock range was maybe three feet. Then that morning it stopped starting the truck entirely.

He said the dealer had quoted him a multi-day wait just to get an appointment, plus towing because they said the truck had to come in. He paid a fraction of that, never moved the truck, and was back to his afternoon by the time the marina was getting busy. That is pretty much the whole pitch right there.
