From there I connected through OBD and ran the PATS all-keys-lost sequence, which clears any previous keys from the car's memory and learns the new one as primary. His Remote Head Key, FCC ID OUCD6000022, started the car on the first try. I cut him a spare too so he wouldn't be in this situation again.
The whole job took about 45 minutes and came out to around $185. Dealer would have been roughly $395 plus a tow and a Monday appointment. He drove home from that same beach lot with two working keys.
