What's the cheapest way to handle all-keys-lost on my 2019 F-150?

Can you delete a lost or stolen key so it won't start my truck anymore?

Yes, and this is one of the more important things people don't know to ask. When we do a security reset on the 2019 F-150, every previously enrolled key ID gets wiped from the immobilizer. Only the new keys you authorize get registered. The old fobs, including any lost or stolen ones, will no longer start the engine.

One thing to know: the physical emergency blade inside a stolen fob can still unlock the door if your truck has a traditional key cylinder on the door handle. That's a lock issue, not an immobilizer issue. Programming handles the start side. If keys were stolen, file a police report for your own records, then call us for a full reprogram to lock out the missing fobs on the ignition side.

Does my 2019 F-150 smart key have a hidden emergency blade inside it?

It does. On the back of the fob there's a small release tab. Press and slide, and the metal blade comes out. That blade fits the driver door lock cylinder and lets you get inside when the fob battery is dead or the fob isn't being read.

Worth knowing: some F-150 owners don't realize their door even has a key cylinder because it's tucked behind or under the handle depending on the trim. If you've never looked for it, poke around near the base of the handle before assuming there's no way in. The blade is there for exactly that moment.

I got a replacement fob online. Can I program it myself, or do I need a tech?

You need a tech. The 2019 F-150 smart key system does not have an onboard self-programming sequence the way some older bladed-key Fords did. Those ignition-turn relearn procedures don't apply here. Pairing a new fob to this truck requires diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port to communicate with the immobilizer and complete the enrollment.

If you bought a fob online, that's fine. Bring it and we'll program it on site. Just confirm it's the correct fob type before you buy, because not every aftermarket fob sold as "fits F-150" will pair correctly. When in doubt, call us first and we'll point you toward what actually works.

My fob works fine for locking and unlocking, but sometimes the truck doesn't recognize it for starting. What's going on?

This specific pattern, remote functions work but start recognition is intermittent, usually points to one of three things on the 2019 F-150.

First, battery. The CR2450 in this fob affects the low-frequency signal used for the push-to-start recognition differently than the RF signal used for locking. A battery that's marginal can keep the RF side working while the start side gets unreliable. Swap the CR2450 first.

Second, interference. Certain aftermarket accessories, dash cams wired to the fuse box, radar detectors, or even some phone chargers can introduce enough RF noise to mess with the key recognition range near the steering column.

Third, if the battery is good and there's no interference, it can point to an enrollment issue where the fob's pairing to the immobilizer has degraded. That's a reprogramming job. We see it occasionally on fobs that were programmed by someone without the right equipment and passed initial startup but weren't fully enrolled.
