2015 Ford Transit
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Ford Transit Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman whose 2015 Ford Transit was sitting in a commercial parking lot off North Broadway in Escondido. She managed a small delivery operation out of it and had snapped her only key off in the ignition cylinder. Not lost, not locked inside, actually snapped.

First thing was extracting the broken piece. That takes patience and the right extraction tools, because the wrong move turns a simple broken key into a damaged cylinder. Got it out clean.

Then I decoded the lock to get the cut specifications and cut a new key blank to match on the spot. Tested it in the ignition, both barn doors, and the driver door. Everything worked.

She had called the Ford dealer before she called me. They told her the van would need to come in, quoted her for the cylinder work and a new key, and mentioned their earliest availability was two days out. She was looking at a tow, a rental for two days, and a bill she didn't want to think about.

The whole job was done in the parking lot in about 45 minutes. She was back to deliveries the same afternoon. The dealer comparison came up on its own when she said what she'd been quoted. All I told her was what she paid me was a fraction of that number.
