2011 Honda Element Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy out near the Naval Base Area in Coronado. He was a retiree, wrapping up a storage unit he'd had for years, and his 2011 Honda Element had started giving him grief with the key.
Not a full failure, just enough to make the day harder. The key would start the car, but the remote buttons had stopped responding. He'd been manually unlocking for weeks, figured he'd deal with it eventually. Eventually showed up when he locked himself out loading boxes.
He'd actually found me on YouTube months before, watching a Honda key replacement video. He told me he liked seeing the actual job before picking up the phone. That's the whole reason I film what I film.
When I got there, I pulled out the key and went through it. The transponder side was still doing its job, which was good news. The remote electronics in the head had given out. On these remote-head keys, the blade, the chip, and the remote are all one unit, so the fix was a full replacement key cut to his vehicle and programmed on site.
I cut the new blade to match his lock, programmed the transponder to his car, and registered the remote. Tested every button, tested the start three separate times, and walked him through the range from across the storage lot. The whole job was done before he finished his second cup of coffee from the gas station down the road.
He saved a good chunk compared to the dealer quote he'd gotten. And he didn't have to leave Coronado to get it done.
