2014 Hyundai Tucson
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 Hyundai Tucson Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Fletcher Hills, a guy called me about his 2014 Tucson. He had watched one of my Hyundai key videos on YouTube a while back, saved the number, and when his fob started acting up he already knew roughly what was going on. That is the best kind of call. He was not panicking, just ready.

His complaint was range. The fob had gone from working across a parking lot to barely working at arm's length. Door lock buttons were sluggish, and a couple of times the vehicle threw a key-not-detected warning when he walked up to the door handle. He had already tried a new battery, so we skipped that conversation.

I met him in Fletcher Hills, pulled the fob apart on the hood of the Tucson, and the board looked fine. No corrosion, no cracked solder. I ran my diagnostic tool through the OBD port to check the key registration status and antenna signal. Everything came back communicating, but the fob was showing low signal output. The fob itself was on its way out.

I programmed a replacement fob on site. Confirmed all four buttons, walked both door handles, tested the start button from inside, and ran three clean ignition cycles. The whole job took under an hour in his driveway.

He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait plus a tow requirement since they were not sure if it was a fob or a module issue. He saved a good chunk skipping that route, and we sorted it right there on his street.
