Out in Peutz Valley, around 1am on a weeknight, I got a call from a guy in Alpine who'd been locked out of his routine. His 2019 Tucson was sitting in the driveway, fully functional in every mechanical sense, but the car had no idea it was supposed to let him in. His only fob had stopped being recognized. I walked every function: door handles, start button, the lock button on the fob, the trunk release. All of it working.
He kept saying he assumed this was a next-morning tow-and-wait situation. The dealer comparison came up on its own; he'd been quoted for a key job on a different car a while back and remembered it being a half-day ordeal with a part on backorder. This was done in his driveway in under an hour.
Midnight in Alpine is not a problem for me.
