2018 Hyundai Tucson Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
The call came from Bressi Ranch, the newer side of Carlsbad where the homes back up to the commercial strip. A guy had bought his 2018 Tucson used about a year earlier and never thought twice about the fact that he only got one key at the sale. That one key was gone now. He had checked his jacket, his desk, the floor of his office. Nothing.
The Tucson was sitting in his driveway, locked, no way in.
I got there that afternoon. First order of business was the door, which I got open mechanically without touching the paint or the weatherstrip. Once I was in, I decoded the blade so I could cut a matching key.
Then came the part that takes patience: all-keys-lost on a 2018 Tucson means connecting through the OBD port, clearing the old key data out of the immobilizer, and enrolling the new fob fresh. There is a timed sequence built into the procedure and you do not rush it. I cut the flip blade to the decoded specs, programmed the transponder side, and synced the remote functions. Tested the lock, unlock, and trunk release. Then I had him turn it over himself so he could feel it start on his own key for the first time.
He asked if I could do a second one on the spot. I had the parts with me, so yes.
The dealer had told him, when he called them first, that without an original key it would need to be towed in and scheduled. He would be waiting days. We did it in his driveway in under an hour, and he saved a good chunk compared to what that dealer trip would have run him.
