My Hyundai says key not detected. What should I do first?

Start simple. Hold the fob directly against the start button and press. This is Hyundai's built-in backup for a dead or very weak fob battery, and it works on the 2017 Tucson. The vehicle reads the transponder at close range even when there's not enough battery left for normal wireless operation. If that gets the engine running, replace the CR2032 and you're done.

If a fresh battery doesn't fix it and the car still won't recognize the fob, the issue could be on the vehicle side: antenna, the body control module, or a software condition. That's not a DIY fix. Call me and I'll run diagnostics on site. Don't keep hammering the start button hoping it'll change, because repeated failed attempts can complicate the diagnostic read.
