Out in San Pasqual Valley, the calls I remember are the ones that could have gone a different direction if the owner had just driven to the dealer first.

Cut the blade to match her existing key using her car's lock for verification, then connected to the OBD port, enrolled the new key into the immobilizer, and programmed the remote function. Then I do the part that matters before anyone reaches for their wallet: I test every button, lock and unlock from a real distance, cycle the ignition, and make sure the car doesn't give any warning on the dash.

The whole thing took about 30 minutes in her driveway. She had a working spare in hand before I packed up. No tow, no dealer wait, no surprise fees. She paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted.
