I got a call from someone parked near the commercial strip off Otay Mesa Road, just on the edge of Ocean View Hills. She had a 2018 MINI Hardtop 2 Door and her fob had been acting up for about a week. Cleared it, re-confirmed the key pairing, and ran through all four buttons plus a full door and start cycle.

Everything came back clean. Start button recognized the fob consistently, all buttons responded, and the dash stayed quiet.

She didn't need a new key at all. Just the right diagnosis, done on site. That's the difference between a parts-replacement guess and actually knowing the system.
