2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call early on a Tuesday morning from a temp worker parked near the agency offices in North Park.

She'd grabbed her Eclipse keys off the counter in a hurry and the key head had cracked at some point - the blade was barely hanging on, and when she tried to turn the ignition, it just spun without catching. She needed to be at a job site before 8am and it was already 7.

I was in the lot with her in about 20 minutes.

The blade itself was too damaged to use as a reference, so I decoded the lock cylinder directly and cut a fresh key to match. Then I sat in the driver's seat with my programming tool on the OBD port and enrolled the new transponder. The immobilizer accepted it on the first attempt. From the time I parked to the time she turned the key and heard the engine catch, it was right around 25 minutes.

She sat there for a second, hand still on the key, like she was waiting for something to go wrong. Nothing did.

She made it to the job site on time. If she'd called the dealer instead, she'd have been looking at a tow since the car wasn't drivable, a wait for parts, and probably a lost day of work she couldn't spare. Coming to us instead saved her a good chunk and kept her morning intact.
