2010 Toyota Yaris
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2010 Toyota Yaris Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy out in Santaluz, over in Rancho Bernardo, around 9pm on a weeknight. He was stuck in an empty office park with zero keys and zero plan. His only key had walked off somewhere during the day and he'd spent an hour retracing his steps before giving up and calling me. He was already pricing tow trucks.

First thing I asked was for his VIN. He didn't have his registration on him, but I walked him through it on the phone. Lower driver's side corner of the windshield. He found it in about thirty seconds. I also had him check his insurance app, which had the registration info as backup.

That VIN told me everything I needed. 2010 Yaris, mechanical key, no fob, no chip enrollment. I pulled the right blank before I left, drove out to Santaluz, decoded his lock on site, and cut the key under the parking lot lights. He was driving inside of twenty minutes from when I arrived.

The part that stuck with me was how close he came to paying for a tow and waiting until the dealer opened the next morning. The job itself was simple. A mobile call saved him the tow, the overnight wait, and a good chunk of what the dealer would have charged. Text me the VIN before I roll out and the job gets even faster.
