I got a call from a woman over on North Broadway in Escondido. She'd walked out to her 2014 Volvo S60 that morning and the car wasn't having it.
She slid the fob into the dash slot, got a key-not-detected warning on the cluster, and the engine wouldn't turn over. She'd already tried it a few times, which on some Volvo systems can compound things if there's a soft fault sitting in the body control module.

I cleared the fault, verified the module was talking to everything it needed to, confirmed the fob was pairing cleanly in the slot, and tested it through a full start cycle. Took maybe thirty-five minutes from the time I parked behind her car.
She didn't need a new ignition module. The dealer had looked at the symptom and quoted the most expensive fix on the list. I diagnosed what was actually wrong. She saved a good chunk, the car started, and she made it to work.
