2020 Volvo S60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call on a Tuesday afternoon from a parent at a school near Downtown Escondido. She was in the pickup lot, kids were about to come out, and her S60 was just sitting there. The fob had gone quiet. No response to any button, no door handles unlocking as she walked up, nothing.
She had already tried holding the fob right against the door handle. She had already googled it. She found the backup-start tip, which is good info, but she still could not get into the car in the first place, so that did not help her yet.
I got there before after-care closed.
First thing I did was get her into the car using the mechanical blade that lives inside the fob. That is what it is there for. Then I checked the fob battery. CR2032, reading low enough that proximity was gone. Swapped it, tested range on all four buttons, tested the door handle unlock on both sides, tested the start. Everything came back clean.
She did not need a new key programmed. She needed someone who showed up and actually worked through it in order instead of assuming the worst.
The dealer, forty-plus minutes away, had a multi-day wait for even a diagnostic appointment. That detail came up at the end of the conversation, almost as an afterthought. By then her kid was already buckled in.
