A customer on a road trip stopped at a gas station near Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary and his key snapped in the ignition of his 2010 Ford Edge. I got there and used my H75 Lishi to extract the broken piece without damaging the ignition wafers. Once it was out clean, I decoded the lock and cut a fresh key. His truck uses a OUCD6000022 remote fob separate from the key, so the fob was fine. I just needed to cut and program a new transponder blade. The PATS system accepted the new chip within one security cycle.
He was back on the highway in under an hour from when he called, and the total was 185. Dealer would have charged 395 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. A snapped key at a gas station on a trip feels like a disaster. For these older Ford trucks, it's one of the simplest jobs I run.
