Got a call at 6:45 in the morning from a guy at a construction site near the Carpinteria Valley Museum. His 2012 Edge wouldn't wake up. Push the start button, nothing. Dash just sat there showing "No Key Detected." His shift started at 7 and his foreman was already walking the site.
I keep the van loaded and rolling by 6am. Got to him in about 25 minutes.
First thing I noticed, his M3N5WY8609 fob felt light. Popped it open and the CR2032 was completely dead, corroded a little around one contact. That corrosion was enough to throw the PATS module off. I used my HU101 Lishi to get into the car, connected through the OBD port under the dash, and cleared the fault stored in the RFA module (the Restraints Control Module on the 7G9T-15K600 board handles remote function actuation on these). Fresh battery in, re-synced the fob, and tested every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, remote start.
He watched me work from about three feet away, holding his hard hat, not saying a word. When the engine turned over he just nodded once and walked toward the job trailer.
Total hands-on time was maybe 20 minutes. I set him up with a spare programmed fob for the glovebox so he'd never be stuck like that again. He clocked in at 7:15. A dealer would have meant a tow, a wait for parts, and a missed day of work. He texted me that night to say thanks.
