2018 Ford Edge Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy near Port Hueneme Beach Park who'd been fighting his 2018 Ford Edge for weeks. Key would slide into the ignition, and then just sit there. He'd wiggle it, push harder, wait. Sometimes it turned after a minute of messing around, sometimes he had to pull it out and start over.
The dealer told him the whole ignition cylinder assembly needed replacing and wanted to reprogram a new key on top of it. He was about to book when a friend said call a locksmith first.
I drove out and looked at his HU101 cylinder. The wafers inside were worn down, which is a known issue on these Ford ignitions. The cylinder itself was fine. So I backed up the immobilizer data with my ACDP programmer, decoded the existing lock, pulled the worn wafers, and dropped in fresh ones. Cut a new key to match the repaired cylinder right on the spot.
His 5-button smart fob, the M3N-A2C931426, paired back up with no drama. I handed him the old wafers so he could see the wear for himself. Tiny parts, big headache.
The ignition turns clean now. He kept a cylinder that had plenty of life left and paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted for parts he never needed.
