She was at a restaurant in Thousand Oaks and her purse was gone. Someone grabbed it off the back of her chair. Car keys, house keys, wallet, phone. She borrowed the hostess's phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me.

Her 2003 Ford Mustang was in the restaurant lot with zero keys. The dealer told her husband they could order a key but it would take 3 to 5 business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they recommended having the locks rekeyed since the stolen key could still open the car. Combined estimate was over $700.

She drove home that night. Total was 95 for two new keys. The dealer estimated 200 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The stolen key can still physically enter the lock but the immobilizer won't let the engine start. She had two fresh keys and the old one was dead to the car.
