Got a call from a guy over at The Lakes at Thousand Oaks. His 2006 Mustang GT was sitting in his driveway and he had zero keys. The only one he ever had fell off a carabiner somewhere between the grocery store and home. He spent the morning on the phone with the Ford dealer and they told him it would need a tow, a wait of three to five business days for the key to come in, and a second appointment after that for programming. He sounded tired just explaining it.
I told him I could be out that afternoon.
When I got there I used my H75 Lishi to pick the door lock and decode the wafer positions. Cut a fresh H75 blade on the van. Then I connected through OBD-II and ran the PATS all-keys-lost procedure on the PCM, which on these 80-bit 4D-63 setups wipes any old key IDs and writes the new transponder as primary.
First turn, it fired right up. No theft light flashing, no crank-no-start. Clean start.
I cut and programmed a second key while I was there. He stood in his driveway holding both of them, just turning them over in his hands like he was making sure they were real.
Whole thing took about 40 minutes. He drove to the store that same evening instead of waiting on the dealer all week.
