Out in Pacific View, a woman had owned her 2012 Mustang for about three years before I met her. She had bought it used with one key, told herself she would get a spare cut, and never got around to it. That is the most common setup I see on used Fords.

Then I transferred the chip data and paired the remote, testing lock, unlock, and the third button before I packed up. Two working keys, both tested, car starts and locks normally. Took about 40 minutes.

If your key cracked or snapped, hold onto both pieces. The housing looks done. The chip might not be.
