2012 Ford Mustang REMOTE-HEAD-KEY Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over near Camino Real Park in Ventura, a guy flagged me down on the phone about his 2012 Mustang. Not lost keys, not stolen keys. His only key cracked right at the blade pivot and snapped when he turned it in the door lock. Remote head in one hand, blade fragment stuck inside the cylinder.
He bought the car used with one key. Always meant to get a spare. Four years of meaning to.
When I got there the H75 blade was wedged pretty deep in the driver door lock. I extracted the broken piece, then cracked open the remote head shell. The 80-bit PATS transponder chip inside was still perfectly intact, which saved us from running a full all-keys-lost procedure through the PCM. I used my VVDI2 to clone the transponder data off the original chip, decoded his lock wafers from the extracted blade, and cut two fresh H75 keys. Rebuilt his OUC6000022 remote head into a new 164-R7040 shell with the cloned chip seated inside.
I programmed both keys through the OBD-II port, verified PATS accepted each one, tested remote lock, unlock, and trunk on both fobs, then handed him two working keys.
He just stood there holding one in each hand like he was weighing them. Forty minutes, start to finish. He went from zero keys to two without a tow truck or a dealer waiting room.
