Got a call from a guy stuck near Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura. His 2011 Mustang, the key blade snapped clean inside the ignition. Just the plastic head in his hand and the metal half jammed in the cylinder.
He told me another locksmith already quoted him on drilling out the ignition cylinder and replacing the whole thing. New cylinder, new keys, the full tear-apart. He wasn't sold on the idea and called me for a second look.
I got there and used my H75 Lishi tool to extract the broken blade fragment. Took a few minutes of careful tension work, but it slid out without scratching the wafer surfaces inside the cylinder. Once the fragment was out, I decoded the lock right there by reading each wafer position. That gave me the exact bitting, no original key needed.
Cut a fresh H75 blade on my mobile machine, then programmed the 80-bit PATS transponder through the OBD-II port. His remote head key uses FCC ID OUC6000022, so the lock, unlock, and trunk buttons all got paired in the same session.
He turned the key, the theft light on the dash did its normal prove-out blink and went off, engine fired. His original ignition cylinder works with the new key the same way it worked with the old one. No drilling, no replacement parts, no tow to a shop.
He kept looking at the ignition like he expected something to be different. Nothing was.
