Got a call from a woman near Ventura River Trail. Her purse had been stolen off the back of her chair at a restaurant. Car keys, house keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed the hostess's phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me.

Her 2010 Mustang was sitting in the lot with zero keys. Her husband had already called the dealer. Their answer: order a key, three to five business days, tow the car in, and they recommended rekeying the locks since the stolen key could still physically open the doors. Multi-day wait, tow bill, the whole pile.

I got there that evening. All-keys-lost on a PATS 80-bit car is a different animal than adding a spare. Adding a spare means the car already trusts a key in hand and just adds a new one to memory. AKL means I wipe the entire key table in the PATS transceiver module so the stolen key is dead to the ignition. I used my IM608 to access the PCM through the OBD-II port, cleared old key data, and wrote two fresh 4D-63 80-bit transponders from scratch. Decoded her door lock with my Lishi H75, cut both blades on site.

She drove home that night. The stolen key can still physically turn the lock cylinder, but the immobilizer will never let it crank the engine. Two working keys, old one erased, done before she finished the police report.
