Friday night near Cross at Grant Park in Ventura. A couple came out of the movies and their 2017 Mustang would not start. The dash just read "No Key Detected" and the push button did nothing. Neither of them knew about the backup start method. They figured the car was stuck there until Monday when a dealer could look at it.

When I got there, I popped open their M3N-A2C31243300 fob on the hood. Both CR2025 cells were corroded along the edges, one worse than the other. The board inside, the A2C31243300 module, looked fine. No cracked solder, no water damage. Just dead batteries that had been in there since the car was new.
Fresh pair of CR2025s, cleaned the contacts, snapped it back together. Remote lock and unlock came back with full range from across the parking lot. Push-to-start fired on the first press. I walked every button on the fob, tested the trunk release, and watched the PATS light on the dash cycle off clean.
The whole thing took less time than the previews before their movie. They drove home that night instead of leaving the car overnight. A stocked van on a Friday at 9pm works exactly the same as a Tuesday at 9am.
