Over in the Thille/Montalvo area of Ventura, a guy flagged me down while I was finishing up another call nearby. He had a 1999 Mustang sitting in his driveway and a key that looked like it had been through a decade of hard use, because it had.

The key would go in, turn, and the dash would light up. Then nothing. No crank, no start. Just a steady theft indicator light sitting there on the cluster.
