Push-to-start all-keys-lost on a newer Mazda is more involved than older transponder jobs. The car requires two new keys in the same session before it accepts either one. There's a mandatory security wait, the keyless module needs initialization, old key data cleared, and both fobs registered through a strict sequence.

A business consultant at the airport hotel in Simi Valley on a Saturday night had a 2004 Mazda 3 with push-to-start and zero keys.
