A retired bus driver called me from the dialysis center on Gonzales Road in Oxnard. He goes three times a week, every week.
His aide had the day off, he had no backup key, and the remote on his 2022 Mazda 3 fob had stopped responding. Not dead, just gone quiet. Doors wouldn't lock from a distance, no response from the exterior handles, and he wasn't about to reschedule treatment to sit at a dealership across town.
