Big Sky is quiet at 5 in the morning. That's part of why she liked the early class. The problem was her key didn't agree with the plan.

She'd bought the 2008 Mazda 3 used about two years before I got there. Came with one key. She always meant to get a spare cut, the way everyone always means to. Because she had that original chip to work from, I didn't have to run a full all-keys-lost procedure. I read the chip, cut a fresh blade to match her vehicle, transferred everything into a new key housing, and had her test it in both the door and the ignition before I packed up.

She made her class. The dealer, for what it's worth, wanted a number that made her laugh when I told her what I charged instead.
