Got a call from a guy near the Pleasant Valley Bike Trail in Camarillo. He had a 2016 Mazda 3 Grand Touring, one smart key since buying it used two years back. Said he'd been meaning to get a spare the whole time. Finally called the Mazda dealer and they told him it would be a week-and-a-half wait for the part, plus he'd have to bring the car in during service hours. That's what pushed him to look around.
I met him in the parking area off the trail. His car was sitting there with a surfboard rack on the roof and sand still on the floor mats.
I used my MAZ24 Lishi to decode the door cylinder by reading each wafer position, then cut the emergency blade on the spot. No original key needed for the cut. Programmed the new WAZSKE13D01 fob through the OBD port using the Autel IM608 with the XP400 Pro, registered it alongside his existing key so both stayed active. The whole thing, blade cut, ID49 transponder pairing, remote function sync, took about 35 minutes.
Tested all four buttons, the push-button start, both front door handle touch sensors, and the trunk release. He kept reaching for his old fob out of habit even though the new one was already working in his pocket.
He saved a good chunk over the dealer route, and he didn't lose his car for a day and a half.
