A pharmacy tech called me from a strip mall lot near Hummingbird Trailhead in Simi Valley around 9:45 at night. Closing shift, dark parking lot, and her only key to her 2005 Mazda 3 was gone. Checked her scrub pockets, the store, the lot. Nothing.

She sat on a parking curb watching me work under the lights and got noticeably calmer once the engine turned over on the first try.
She drove home that night. The dealer would have meant a tow, a wait until morning, and a bill that would have stung a lot harder. The VIN is the single most useful thing you can give me. Text it before I arrive.
