An Uber driver between rides on a frontage road pulloff near Rancho Tapo Community Park had his key snap inside the door lock of his 2007 Mazda 3. The blade broke clean off from years of heavy use. Another locksmith he called told him the lock would need to be drilled. New cylinder, new key, pushing $450.

I used my VVDI2 to read the transponder data from the broken key head since the chip was intact. Then I used my MAZ24 Lishi to extract the broken blade fragment without scratching the wafer surfaces. Once extracted, I decoded the lock and cut a fresh blade to exact depths. His remote, FCC ID , was a -button unit that I rebuilt into a fresh shell with the salvaged chip.

No drilling, no cylinder replacement. His total was 106. The other locksmith wanted 266 or more. Destructive entry should be a last resort.
