1999 Acura RL Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
The Bridges in Rancho Santa Fe is a gated community, and the guard at the front waved me through once I explained the job. I always keep that part low-key. You show up professional and explain what you're there to do, and it goes fine.
The owner had a 1999 RL that had been sitting a few extra days while she sorted out her schedule. The fob had been intermittent for a while, then just quit. She figured she would deal with it eventually, then "eventually" became a Monday morning where none of it worked and she had places to be.
I asked her when she last changed the battery. She looked at me like I'd asked about a different car entirely.
I swapped the CR2032 first, right there in her driveway. Remote functions came back. But the car still hesitated on start, which told me the immobilizer side needed attention beyond just the battery swap. I connected my programmer, ran the registration sequence, and confirmed the key was properly enrolled. Start, lock, unlock, all clean.
The dealer had been her first call that morning. They were quoting her a multi-day wait and a tow since she wasn't comfortable driving it in the state it was in. I was done before noon. She saved a good chunk and didn't have to rearrange her week around a shop's schedule.
