1997 Audi A6 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Coronado Village is a tight grid of older residential streets where people actually park outside and leave their cars for days at a time. That kind of sitting is hard on a 27-year-old flip key.

I got a call from a guy a few blocks from the Orange Avenue strip. He was standing next to his 1997 Audi A6, key snapped at the blade, the broken tip still sitting inside the door lock. He had been using a worn copy for years, and the wafer pack inside the lock was gummy from age and salt air, the kind of resistance that finally wins when the metal is already thin. Another locksmith he had called earlier told him the lock would need to be drilled out, new cylinder, new key, big bill.

I extracted the broken blade fragment from the door lock without touching the wafer surfaces. No drilling. Then I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position for the exact cut depths. The transponder chip inside the broken fob head was still intact, so I transferred it into a fresh replacement shell with a new key blade cut to the decoded depths. Four-button remote, correct shell, chip intact, done on site.

He asked what drilling the lock would have cost him. I told him he would have paid for the cylinder, the new key, and probably a tow if the other guy was not mobile. He just nodded and went back inside.

That is the job. No destruction, no tow, no waiting on parts. Just reading the lock for what it already knows.
