2011 Dodge Journey Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in Santaluz, over in Rancho Bernardo, on a Monday morning. He was not going anywhere.
He had flown in over the weekend for a week of meetings and his 2011 Dodge Journey would not respond to the fob. He tried the buttons, tried inserting the blade anyway, and the dash threw a key-not-detected warning every time. He was parked in the driveway of the place he was staying and his first meeting was in an hour and a half.
He had already called the dealer. Thursday was the earliest they could see him. It was Monday.
When I got there, I popped the fob open before doing anything else. The CR2032 inside was not just low, it was reading nearly flat on the meter. Swapped it, reseated the contacts, and tried the ignition. The key-not-detected warning was gone. The engine started.
That was the whole fix.
I still connected to the OBD port and confirmed both his fobs were still enrolled and communicating correctly. No faults, no registration issues. The vehicle security system was happy. He did not need a new fob, did not need reprogramming, did not need a Thursday dealer appointment with whatever that was going to cost him on top of a rental for three days.
He made his first meeting with time to spare. I packed up and was back on the 15 before 9 a.m.
