2012 Dodge Journey Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A family in Downtown Ramona had been packing for a cross-country move all week.
The morning they were set to leave, one parent came to me with a straightforward problem: their 2012 Dodge Journey had one key, and somewhere between the garage sale, the donation runs, and the final box stack, it was gone. Not locked in the car. Just gone. The Journey was sitting in the driveway loaded to the roof, the moving truck was due back by a hard deadline, and the kids were already in their seats wondering why no one was moving yet.
I got there with enough time to work. The door lock decoded cleanly, and I cut a replacement key blade to match. Then I ran the add-a-key sequence through the OBD port to register the new fob to the vehicle's immobilizer. The 2012 Journey doesn't require wiping the memory to add a key, so if the original ever turned up in a jacket pocket somewhere in a moving box, it would still work.
I tested every button, walked both front doors, and confirmed the engine started and held. No stall, no warning light, no drama.
The whole job was done before the kids started asking questions a second time. They pulled out of the driveway on schedule. The dealer would have required an appointment, probably a day or two out, and the moving truck wasn't going to wait for that.
