2011 GMC Terrain Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked on the Naval Base Area side of Coronado when a call came in about a 2011 Terrain. The owner had a working key but needed a second one cut and programmed before a cross-country trip. She wanted it done that day.

She met me in a parking area near her building. While we were talking, she mentioned the original key had been acting up lately, remote working intermittently, and she had assumed it was just age. I pulled the fob apart on the hood and found a CR2032 that read nearly flat on my tester. Not fully dead, just weak enough to make the remote unreliable at any real distance.

Fresh battery in the original, both contacts cleaned. Range came back immediately. She laughed a little at how simple it was.

Then I got to work on the second key. Decoded the door lock, cut the blade to match, connected to the diagnostic port, ran the programming sequence, and enrolled the new flip key into the vehicle's security system. Tested both keys back to back, started the car with each one, tested every button on each fob from across the lot.

Total time on site was just under 40 minutes. She left with two working keys and a fixed original she didn't know needed fixing. The dealer had quoted her days out just to get an appointment. I was already done before she would have gotten a callback.
