Try starting from a different position in the cabin, and hold the fob directly to the start button face as a backup start method. If it reads that way but not from your pocket, the fob antenna is the likely issue. If it won't read at all, even held against the button, that points toward the vehicle side, either the start button antenna or the immobilizer module, and that needs a diagnostic.
