Got a call from a guy parked near the pier in Downtown IB, right off Palm Avenue. It was a weeknight, not super late, but dark enough that he was doing that thing where you keep patting your pockets hoping the key shows up.
It was a 1996 J30. He said he had a spare at home but his roommate was gone for the weekend and he wasn't about to sit there until Monday. He sounded a little embarrassed, like he thought this was going to be a whole thing.

The dealer was never part of his plan anyway since they would have needed the car there during business hours and charged him more for the privilege.
He drove off in about twenty minutes from when I pulled up. That is pretty much the whole story.
