2005 Kia Sportage Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was working the Shadowridge side of Vista on a Wednesday when a call came in from a chiropractor in a small office complex nearby. His 2005 Sportage had been sitting in the lot since morning. The remote had gone completely dead on him, and he had back-to-back patients every 30 minutes until five.
He couldn't leave. He couldn't tow it during the workday. And he'd already called the dealer, who told him to schedule an appointment, bring the car in, and plan on being without it for a day or two.
I got there between his patients. Popped the fob, swapped in a fresh CR2032, and tested range. Still nothing. The fob had lost its pairing with the receiver, which happens on these after a battery dies completely and sits for a while. Plugged into the OBD port, pulled the security PIN, and re-registered the remote. All three buttons came back. Lock, unlock, trunk release, all working before his next patient walked in the door.
He had a working fob in his hand in about 20 minutes. The dealer option would have meant a tow, an appointment days out, and a waiting room. He paid a fraction of that and never left the parking lot.
