I got a call from a guy over in Seven Oaks, in Rancho Bernardo, on a Tuesday afternoon. He was standing next to his 2019 Sportage in the parking lot of an alignment shop off Bernardo Center Drive. Another locksmith had come out earlier to cut and program a replacement flip key after he'd lost his only key. Somewhere during the programming sequence, the battery in the Sportage dropped low enough to interrupt the security handshake. The immobilizer went into a fault state. That locksmith left.

About an hour and a half total. He saved a good chunk compared to the flatbed-plus-dealer route the alignment shop had already started pricing out for him.
The job itself wasn't exotic. The situation was recoverable because the voltage was stabilized before any new attempt was made. That part matters more than any single tool in the bag.
