2007 Mazda CX-9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A roofing contractor called me at 6:30 in the morning from a supply yard off Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa. His crew was already there, the truck was empty, and his 2007 CX-9 wouldn't acknowledge the fob at all. No door response, no start. He had materials to load and a job site waiting.
I was already stocked and out of the van by six most mornings. I pulled into the yard in about 25 minutes.
The fob battery was dead, which is where I started. Swapped in a fresh CR2025, tested the buttons, and got nothing back from the vehicle. That told me it wasn't just the battery. The keyless module had dropped sync, probably sometime after the battery fully died. Got into the vehicle mechanically, connected through the OBD port, and ran the re-pair sequence. There's a timed security wait built into Mazda's process on this generation that you cannot rush, so I let it count down while I cut a backup key and walked him through what had happened.
By 7:30 he was loaded and on the road. His crew hadn't lost more than a few minutes waiting. He mentioned what the dealer quoted him last time he had a key issue. I didn't say anything. The difference spoke for itself.
