2017 Mazda CX-9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was a Friday night call near the Lake Poway Area, just before 9pm. A couple had come out of dinner to find their 2017 CX-9 completely unresponsive. Fob did nothing. They hadn't touched the car in a few hours. The push-button start just sat there. No response from the door handles either.
They assumed it was dead, as in stranded-until-Monday dead. They did not know the fob has an emergency blade folded inside for exactly this moment. They also did not know a locksmith with the right tools could be standing in front of them in twelve minutes.
I was already in Poway when the call came in. Pulled up, popped the fob open on the hood. The CR2025 was so depleted it was reading almost nothing. Fresh battery in, contacts wiped, back together. Push-button start came up on the first hold.
After that I did the full walk: both front door handles, the rear doors, every button on the fob including the liftgate release. All of it working clean. Then I showed them where the emergency blade lives inside the fob housing, because the next time a battery dies slowly at the wrong moment, they will know what to do.
They drove home that night. No Monday wait, no dealer appointment, no tow.
