Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Mazda CX-9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Her bakery opens at 6am and the morning delivery run starts at 4:45. Her 2011 Mazda CX-9 was sitting behind the bakery in the Las Americas Area of San Ysidro with a key that had stopped waking the car entirely. The fob had been getting progressively weaker for weeks, and that morning it finally quit.

She called the Mazda dealer's emergency line. They told her to call back when service opened at 8. She called me at 4:30am.

I was there by 5. Getting the door open was the first step, using the folded emergency blade she did not know was inside the fob housing. Once I was in, I pulled the fob apart on the hood. The CR2025 was reading nearly dead, and the contact points inside the housing had a film of corrosion that was robbing what little voltage was left. That combination had pushed the vehicle's immobilizer past the point of recognizing the key at all.

I replaced the fob, cleaned the situation up properly, programmed the new unit through the diagnostic port, and walked through every button plus the door handle touch zones before I called it done. There is a security timing window built into the process on these, so you cannot rush through it.

She was on her delivery route by 5:40am. Three restaurants got their bread on time. The dealer was not even open yet.
