I got a call from a shop foreman over near North Park. His customer's 2013 CX-9 was sitting in the service bay with a fresh programming failure, courtesy of another locksmith who had left the job unfinished.
What happened was simple but ugly. The other tech started the smart key enrollment, the tool dropped connection during the security wait, and the immobilizer module locked into a fault state. The car would not start. The customer was still in the waiting room. The first locksmith was gone.

The whole recovery took about an hour and fifteen minutes. The shop foreman thanked me, and the customer got their car back the same afternoon instead of waiting for a dealer tow slot. The dealer route would have taken days and cost a good chunk more. That part barely came up. The job was the job.
