2010 Mazda CX-9 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was a Friday evening out near Santee Lakes, and a couple had been at a spot near the water when they came back to their 2010 CX-9 and got nothing. No door response, no feedback from the fob, no start. They figured the car was done until at least Monday and had already started looking up tow numbers.
I was about twelve minutes out. The fob battery was the first thing I checked, and it was reading almost nothing on the meter. The CR2025 inside had given up, probably slowly over a few weeks before finally going quiet that night.
What they didn't know was that the fob has an emergency insert blade tucked inside. I showed them how to get into the vehicle manually while I grabbed a fresh cell from the van. Swapped the battery, reseated everything cleanly, confirmed the fob was talking to the vehicle again, and walked every button before I called it done.
The car started. They drove home that night instead of waiting through the weekend.
The dealer conversation came up on its own. They'd already mentally prepared to pay dealer prices and sit on a waitlist. When I told them what the actual cost was, one of them just said "seriously?" That's the part I like. Not the drama of the dead fob, just the look when the number is way less than what they'd resigned themselves to paying.
