2015 Nissan Leaf
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Nissan Leaf Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a parking lot off East Main in Downtown El Cajon. Overnight stocker, just finished a shift, standing next to his 2015 Leaf with no key. Not a dead fob. Gone. He had no idea where it went and it was his only one. He was already pricing tow trucks on his phone when he called me.

First thing I asked him for was the VIN. He went quiet for a second. I told him to look through the windshield at the base of the glass, driver's side corner. He found it. I also had him pull up his insurance app, which had a copy of his registration. That was everything I needed to confirm ownership and get moving.

All-keys-lost on the Leaf means the old key memory gets cleared and the new fob gets enrolled fresh. I prepped a Leaf-specific Intelligent Key blank, the one with the charge port button, before I even left. When I got to the lot, he was leaning against the car looking like he hadn't slept, which, after a full overnight shift, he hadn't.

I worked under the parking lot lights, ran the procedure through the diagnostic port, enrolled the new fob, verified the immobilizer accepted it, and confirmed every button function. Charge door button included. He watched the whole thing.

He drove home that night. I didn't bring up what a dealer would have charged, and he didn't ask. He just wanted to get home. The VIN and the insurance app got it done.
