Her 2016 Nissan Leaf was sitting in a valet lot with no keys at all. When her roommate called the dealer, they said they could order the part but it would arrive in three to five business days, the car would need a tow since it couldn't be moved, and they strongly suggested rekeying or at minimum clearing the key memory because the stolen fob could still open the doors and start the car. The charge port door button was tested on both. I cut the emergency insert blade so she had a physical backup. Both fobs were working before her roommate finished parking.
She drove home that night. The stolen fob is permanently dead to that car.
