2004 Nissan Pathfinder Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call late on a weeknight from someone over in the Millenia area of Chula Vista. She'd been at a valet lot for a birthday, and during the chaos of the night her purse walked away from the table, keys and all.
Her 2004 Nissan Pathfinder was sitting in that valet lot with no keys in existence. Her roommate called the dealer first. The dealer quoted a multi-day wait, said the car would need to be towed in, and the full ticket they described was not small. The roommate called me next.
All-keys-lost after a theft is a different animal than cutting a spare. The old key data has to be wiped from the immobilizer so the stolen key can never start the car again. On this generation Pathfinder, that means resetting the immobilizer memory entirely and registering new keys from zero. I brought my diagnostic equipment, pulled the vehicle's key memory, cleared it, and programmed two new transponder keys on site. Cut the key blades to the vehicle, verified both keys started the engine, and confirmed the old key data was gone.
She drove home that night. The dealer's route involved a tow, a wait she couldn't afford, and a bill she definitely couldn't. She paid a fraction of what they wanted and never moved the car. The stolen key is dead to this Pathfinder now.
