2005 Nissan Pathfinder Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Bressi Ranch, a guy called me about a snapped key in his 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Not bent, not worn down. Snapped clean. The blade broke at the shoulder, and half of it was sitting inside the ignition cylinder.
The first locksmith he called went straight to the nuclear option: drill the cylinder, replace the whole ignition assembly, new keys, new everything. That quote was enough to make him pull over and start searching for a second opinion.
I got out there with my extraction tools and worked the broken fragment out of the cylinder without touching the wafers. Once the piece was clear, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position directly. No guessing. The ignition cylinder itself was completely undamaged.
From the decode I cut a new blade to match. Then I programmed the transponder chip through the OBD port and tested both the remote functions and the start cycle before I packed anything up.
His original lock and ignition still work. Nothing was drilled. Nothing was replaced. The Pathfinder started up like the whole thing never happened, and he was back on the road well before the other locksmith would have even sourced the parts.
The dealer comparison came up on its own. He mentioned what the dealer quoted him for a replacement key a year earlier before he even lost this one. He said what I charged was a fraction of that. I just nodded. The work speaks for itself.
